DANCE INSTRUCTORS:

Gwyneth Har:
Gwyneth is the co-founder of Dance Theatre Arts and a graduate in dance from the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia. She is a Royal Academy of Dance registered teacher and has teaching certification under the Australasian Arts Theatre of Dance.

Gwyneth is an experienced performer and teacher of various dance styles, and musical theatre both in Singapore and abroad. Gwyneth has trained and coached solo and competitive dance teams in Singapore and overseas, with her students achieving excellent results.

Melissa Har:
Melissa is a co-founder of Dance Theatre Arts and graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance & Education Studies. In Australia, she participated and won numerous competitions, receiving various scholarships, including The English National Ballet–where she performed in the company’s production of Romeo and Juliet, Ballet Magnificat and School of the American Ballet.

Melissa has also performed in numerous contemporary works by internationally acclaimed choreographers such as Jiri Kylian and Natalie Weir. Her Musical Theatre performances include Broadway’s highly acclaimed Lion King in Sydney. Melissa is competent at teaching contemporary dance, acrobatics, and jazz.

Alif:
Alif is a passionate dancer and teaches a variety of Hip Hop dance styles which include Poppin, Lockin and Krump. He is part of the Hip Hop crew Freekzy Nutz under The iLLers., an entertainment conglomeration of Break-dancers, Dancers, DJs, MCs, Rappers, Graffiti Artists, Beat-boxers, Rock/R&B Band, and instructors, Choreographers, Managers and Artistes.

Alif is currently teaching Hip Hop at a secondary school and is an avid performer at many community and commercial events including Chingay 2006 and Ballet under the Stars. He has also emerged champion in numerous competitions including the Ignite Dance Competition, Dance Explosion ’08 and the Street Bliss MTV All Boys Dance Competition.

Syazwan:
Syazwan is currently teaching dance at several schools. His foundation is in Malay Dance but he has since moved into other dance forms with a passion including Jazz, Hip Hop, Zazo, Reggae and MTV Dance. Syazwan is part of the dance crew, Fantastic Crew, and he took the Champion and Artistic Merit Award recently at Danceworks 2009.

Syazwan is also an accomplished choreographer and performer and appeared in a number of television and film projects including music videos.

DANCE/DRAMA INSTRUCTOR:

Desmond Chen:
Desmond is a multi-talented choreographer, drama teacher and performing artiste who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Studies from NUS. He holds an ATCL (Musical Theatre) Associate Diploma from Trinity College of Music & Drama, ALCM (Speech & Drama teaching) Associate Diploma from London College of Music & Drama as well as Performance Certificates in Acting & Communication Skills.

Desmond has taught Drama and Dance for over 10 years and is the resident choreographer and drama coach at various schools including St Margaret’s and Fajar Secondary, aiding them to win many Singapore Youth Festival awards for Drama and Dance. He has choreographed professionally for theatre groups and commercial projects and as an actor and dancer, has performed extensively locally and abroad. Desmond will be appearing in the upcoming production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ by Wild Rice Theatre Company.


DRAMA INSTRUCTOR:

Low Ying Ying:
Ying Ying holds a LTCL (Performance) in Speech and Drama from Trinity Guildhall and is also qualified to teach Musical Theatre. She specialises in teaching Speech and Drama and group recital in Performance Arts, while exploring new teaching methodologies related to performance arts.

Ying Ying has been teaching Speech and Drama for almost 2 decades and has students from Nursery up to Junior College level. She is a very dedicated teacher of Speech and Drama at various schools and private centres including Grace Speech and Drama where she currently prepares students for Trinity Guildhall Speech and Drama exams as well as practical theatre work.


VOCAL INSTRUCTOR:

Jane Lau:
Jane is a vocal teacher, recording artiste and actor. She is pre-certified to teach the Speech Level Singing vocal technique and teaches privately as well as at the Seimpi School of Music (Marine Parade). With many years of music teaching experience, she also enjoys imparting her practical experiences as a performer to her students.

Jane recently sang the lead adult role of Aunt Jenny in the musical ‘Magic for Maya’, and she also played the role of Nelly Eng on Okto’s TV Musical ‘School House Rockz’ and the lead role of Kirrian in the musical ‘A Christmas Wish’. She has appeared on various TV programmes on Mediacorp Channels 5 & 8 and Okto. Jane released her debut EP ‘A Different View’ with her band ‘Cosmic Armchair’ this year and is currently working on the band’s full-length album. Jane is the co-founder of Stratos Entertainment LLP.
